Morpheus8 uses radiofrequency microneedling for skin tightening, reducing wrinkles, and improving acne scars and stretch marks

Morpheus8, available in Castle Rock and Niwot, is a minimally invasive treatment that uses both microneedling and radiofrequency (RF) energy to stimulate collagen and elastin production, which can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, and acne scars, as well as improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.

Morpheus8 is similar to microneedling in that very small needles are used to create a series of mechanical micro injuries to the collagen, thus stimulating the body’s own repair mechanisms to restore and strengthen the collagen and elastin. However, in contrast to microneedling, Morpheus8 also uses radiofrequency energy to create a thermal injury to the skin. This further enhances the rejuvenation process above and beyond what microneedling alone will do.

The Morpheus8 treatment is typically performed in a series of three to six sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart. Some patients choose to continue periodic “maintenance” treatments 1-2x per year. Each session takes about 45 minutes to an hour, depending on the size of the treatment area. Morpheus8 can be used to treat many places on the body, and the most commonly treated areas including the face, neck, chest, arms, abdomen, vulva and legs.

Following the procedure, the skin may be pink and swollen, but this typically subsides within a few hours. Patients are typically able to return to their normal activities immediately after the treatment, although they should avoid sun exposure and strenuous exercise for a few days.

Results from Morpheus8 treatment can be seen gradually over the course of several weeks, with optimal results typically seen around 3-6 months after the final treatment. This is because the body continues to “heal” from the micro injuries caused by the Morpheus8 treatment.

Morpheus8 is considered safe for all skin types, but it is not recommended for individuals with active acne, rosacea, or eczema. It may be used in combination with other treatments, including Facetite and Acutite, but it is also not recommended for individuals who have recently undergone a chemical peel or laser resurfacing treatment.

Morpheus8 treatment is not a one-size-fits-all solution. The best candidates for Morpheus8 are those who have mild to moderate wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, and acne scars, and are looking for a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment option.
