Dr. Jensen spent much of his fellowship training under one of the masters of aesthetic lasers, Dr. Vic Ross. During his training, Dr. Jensen was able to use and test almost 50 lasers and devices. From this broad experience, Dr. Jensen has been able to select what he feels are the most effective lasers available and incorporate them into Clarity Dermatology. We will continue to add more laser services over time, so please check back again soon!
Lasers use energy from light to target the skin and improve its tone and texture. Depending on the type of laser used and the length of time the light is delivered, lasers can selectively target different colors (such as red and brown) or other molecules in the skin, such as water. The energy from a laser heats up the target, causing it to either be destroyed or to exert an effect on the skin that ultimately results in a desired cosmetic improvement.
At Clarity Dermatology, we believe in a customized approach in which we address your concerns. Each patient is different and has different goals in their care. An in-person consultation will allow us to help you develop a plan that is tailored specifically for you.
Laser Treatments Offered At Clarity Dermatology
The Lumenis AcuPulse is one of the premier resurfacing lasers available today and is one of the most versatile aesthetic lasers in existence. This laser uses a carbon dioxide lasing medium to target water, which is present in abundance in the skin. In general, the laser is used with a “fractionated” setting. This means that the laser will create a series of very small wounds in the skin. As these wounds heal, new collagen is created, and the healed skin is renewed and rejuvenated. Fractionated treatments allow for significant gains in improvement in the skin while still minimizing downtime and healing time.
Alma Hybrid Laser Resurfacing
The Hybrid combines the benefits of 2 different lasers into one treatment to achieve superior results with less downtime. This is the first and only laser to combine a CO2 ablative laser and a 1570 nm non-ablative laser into a simultaneous treatment. There are other lasers on the market that are “dual-wavelength” lasers, but the Hybrid has the most power and, thus, the greatest versatility of the lasers currently on the market.
Excel V – Reds and Browns
The Cutera Excel V is the most advanced, effective laser for redness and superficial veins/spider veins on the market today. The Excel V targets the redness seen in rosacea and sun damage, spider veins (such as those around the nose or on the legs), cherry angiomas (small, benign red spots), and many other common skin conditions. It can also target the blue veins that can sometimes appear on the face or on the legs. Sometimes, the Excel V is combined with other treatment modalities in order to achieve the best results possible.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL uses pulses of light to improve the skin’s appearance and treats several skin issues, including sun damage, age spots, and redness from both sun damage and rosacea. It can also treat spider veins on various parts of the body, reduce/remove unwanted hair, and reduce the size of pores. There is also evidence that it can treat the symptoms of ocular rosacea, a condition related to rosacea of the skin that causes itching and redness in the eyes. IPL is an incredibly versatile device!
Laser Genesis
Laser Genesis, available at our Castle Rock location, is the laser version of a facial and can improve skin texture, tone, and pore size with a series of treatments. Laser Genesis is a laser facial that gently heats the skin and is highly tolerable—even without the use of topical anesthesia. It is designed to improve skin tone and texture while reducing pore size and enhancing overall appearance.
ResurFX Laser Resurfacing
The ResurFX laser is a non-ablative, fractionated resurfacing laser designed to improve fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, stretch marks, scars, and acne scars. “Fractionated” means that the laser created a pattern of small columns of tissue heating which stimulate new collagen. The fractionated technology used by ResurFX allows for fewer passes over the treatment area, resulting in faster treatment and less discomfort. This contrasts with other fractional technologies, which require more passes to be effective.
