The Lumenis AcuPulse is one of the premier resurfacing lasers available today and is one of the most versatile aesthetic lasers in existence. This laser uses a carbon dioxide lasing medium to target water, which is present in abundance in the skin. In general, the laser is used with a “fractionated” setting. This means that the laser will create a series of very small wounds in the skin. As these wounds heal, new collagen is created, and the healed skin is renewed and rejuvenated. Fractionated treatments allow for significant gains in improvement in the skin while still minimizing downtime and healing time.

What Conditions Can AcuPulse Treat?

The AcuPulse can treat many skin conditions, both cosmetic and non-cosmetic, including:

  • Visible signs of aging, such as:
  • Brown spots
  • Wrinkles
  • Lines around the lips
  • Acne scars
  • Surgical scars
  • Benign skin lesions
  • Actinic cheilitis (precancerous lesions on the lips)

If you are looking for a treatment that will treat the tell-tale signs of aging or any of the problems listed above, the AcuPulse may be the laser for you.

Unlike many other aesthetic lasers, the AcuPulse is able to achieve dramatic improvements in the skin after only one treatment. Treatment with this laser does require some downtime, since the laser creates an open wound and patients must avoid the sun for several weeks following the treatment. However, the AcuPulse laser is generally well tolerated and patients heal quickly. During a consultation prior to your treatment, we will review what to expect prior to your procedure and answer all your questions.
